Cobb Center Hosts Over Eight Hundred Guests During Celebration

An estimated 750 guests take time out from St. John’s Day festivities to visit the newly opened Cobb Center at Dunn Cottage, Museum and Archives.  Dedicated in October of 2005, the renovated “Baby Cottage” now houses the museum of history, archives and alumni hall of the Home.  This project was the result of financial support by the Cobb Foundation and was the vision of Foundation President and alumnus, William Cobb and his wife Rhoda.  Over the past six months, the Home has expanded its collection of displays in the Cobb Center, including updated pictures and additional collections in the Alumni Hall.  The Center also boasts newly installed room by room displays which feature photographs of the building as it was previously used and included a living history of Dunn Cottage, since 1929.  Members of the Alumni Association greeted guests and lead tours during the day.

The Cobb Center continues to grow and it’s gaining a wonderful reputation as an ideal location for business meetings, conferences, and a comfortable and accommodating meeting location.  The Cobb Center has hosted over 40 groups since January 1 of this year for such functions.  In August the museum will make two special announcements regarding the future of the Cobb Center and a very special historical project commissioned for completion in the Fall of 2007.  For more information or to reserve space for the upcoming fall and Christmas seasons, visit the Cobb Center Reservation Page or call 919-603-3901.
